Again?

Yesterday morning, there was a thick ice plate in the water bowl for my pet dog. I felt like I saw ice or frost column in my garden for the first time in tens of years. Weather report said the cold weather these days is a record in terms of something I don't remember well. Maybe it was about the number of consecutive days when the highest temperature reaches only below ten degree C. Actually it was 7C yesterday.
I suspect it is just about as cold as when I was a child but I don't feel the coldness that I felt then. Is it because my physical ability has finally improved to handle the coldness better or my sensitivity to coldness has got numb? Possibly the true reason is better insulation of houses. As long as we stay indoors we no longer have to shiver with cold like 40 years ago. It is so comfortable to stay home. That's one of the reasons kids don't want to go out even when the sky gives us the blessing of snow. But this comfort cannot be gained for free. As you may already guess, we are paying energy bill in exchange. That brings us back to my pet topic, environmental problems. Don't tell me "Here you go again!". It's serious.
