A large pimple

About a month ago, I had an itchy feeling on my back. As I couldn't see what was happening there, I had my wife see it for me. She said
"A boil."
"Boil? how big is it?"
"Quite big, You should have a doctor take a look at it."
"It's just a boil. It's a grown-up pimple, so to speak. A symbol of adolescence. Soon it will fester and when the pus drains on its own, it will heal by itself."
We waited the boil to be matured. It did grow bigger but never fester. It turned deep red. When it reached a size that would shock everyone who sees it, I decided to go to see a dermatologist. It was yesterday.
The doctor was a gray-haired woman who spoke loud enough to make whatever she said heard by the people waiting to see her.
"What is the matter?"
"I just had a large pimple on my back." I rolled up my shirt and turned back to show my back to her.
"Oh, this is it. Why did you leave it until it grows this big."
At a loss what to answer, I said "Well, it was kind of fun to see anything that is growing; kids, trees, nails,... though I couldn't see it myself. "
"Then I guess you enjoyed a lot." she laughed out loudly. "But you have to pay for the pleasure. You have to have a small operation."
"OPERATION?!!"
"Yes, a kind of. It takes an incision to drain the pus. Lie down on your stomack on that bed"
"Doctor, excuse me, but I have a frozen shoulder and I am afraid I can't lie down in the position you want me to take. So do you think you can cure it by just....taking medicine or ... you know... anything that doesn't require a knife?" I said hoping she would not take this comment made out of my cowardice.
"Ok, just lie down in any way you like." she said in something of an imperative tone.
I very much reluctantly tried to lie on my stomack. But it was impossible. Then on my left side. My left shoulder hurt unbearably. Then on my right side. It was better although I had to have my left arm held by a nurse.
"Will it hurt?" I asked trying to make it sound as casual as possible.
"I will use anesthesia injection locally. Don't worry."
She was right. It didn't hurt except for the first injection of anesthesia. I heard she say
"Here it comes out." or "Wow, this is something." or "the size has now become less than half at last."
What a shame I could not see this spectacle that was happening on my own body.
Now you must learn a lesson from my experience. Go to doctor.
