Rain man

My parents in law always waited for us to come. My father in law passed away this spring so this time my mother in law was alone looking forward to seeing my family. She is a real single-hearted, warm hearted little woman who had exclusively received tender care from her husband since they got married until he died.
This time she had another reason to wait eagerly for us.
There had been very little rain for a month or so around the area. This time of the year is crucial to crops they are growing. Crops and vegetables need sunshine, high temperature and.... rain. Lack of rain can cause to spoil all the efforts they put throughout the year into growing crops. She strongly believes I am a "rain man". It was rainy when I first visited her purely Japanese style house to ask them to let me marry with their second daughter. They came in a rain to attend our wedding ceremony. I "saved" many times of "dry spell" just by visiting their house, according to my late father in law.
So she was expecting. The day of my arrival the sky was grey and looked about to rain.
Here it comes! She thought to herself. A few drops of rain. But that was all. it didn't give any more blessing to us.
"My magic seems to have worn off. I'm getting old." I said to her apologetically. She just smiled.
The next day at around 3 pm, the sky suddenly turned dark grey again. The oak tree towering in the backyard was blown hard and some leaves were torn and carried away from branches. A large drops of rain began to fall on the parched ground changing the color to dark brown where they hit. Then in a matter of a minute, it was pouring. It changed the whole scenery all at once. I was just standing by the window, lost in the rage of nature. When I look aside I found my mother in law was also standing looking out the window. She looked to me and smiled.
"Thank you for coming."
