Internet society

The Internet has changed the world a great deal, so much that we can't even remember what the world was like before this IT age. I'm writing a diary here now sitting, staring at the computer display running my fingers all over the keyboard. It's so easy. I have only to wait for people to happen to pass by my diary and drop a line for me. It's good! The chances of a stranger to accidentally stumble upon my diary has increased enormously thanks to the Net.
But something is wrong here. Something is missing. Tell me what it is. It might be the feeling that I am dealing with a substitute in stead of the real thing. Isn't internet conversation a substitute for a real conversation? Are we gradually and steadily getting to prefer a virtual reality to the reality under the name of convenience, without our knowing it. Is this what's happening? Is our future bleak because of the trend? We have to give it a thought.
The picture upper right has nothing to do with the topic. It is the old city of Bern, Switzerland. I love this old, compact city.
