Try a new thing a day
The other day when I wrote about a change I remembered something.
As we grow up we get into habits, do the same things, eat only what we like, have the same expectations, talk with the same people at the same places talking about the same topics with the same reactions day after day. A few years ago it occurred to me out of blue how boring such a life was. Since then I have been trying to do at least one new thing a day. Once I began, it was surprising how refreshing and rewarding effect it had. I'm not talking about big things. I'm talking about smaller changes inside or outside ourselves which we can make on a day to day basis. We can talk to a person who we have avoided talking to, buy a small thing on our way home for our loved ones, read a book that we usually disagree with, drop in a shop we usually just pass by, and smile to a person you thought you didn't like. It also includes confronting our old fears. Yesterday, for example, I dropped in at an old china shop in front of the station and found many pretty things there. It was a discovery for me to know how these small shops are deserted and how shop owners are striving to continue their business. Even if I didn't buy anything there, I felt like supporting those small shops which may be bound to disappear in the near future without a successor.
Just look around or inside yourself and there is always something you can do a little differently. I am sure you will love that you did it differently. This is like opening a new door which may lead you to a new world. Without opening nothing happens. We are after all a creature of possibilities. Increasing possibilities by opening many doors is exposing yourself to this great principle of nature. Believe me. Try and you will like it!
The picture was taken in Vienna, Austria. Taking photo is similar to doing things differently. It is to pay attention to what we usually pass by and overlook.
