Inheritable

I have been a bit more forgetful than other people ever since I was born. I used to always come back from school soon after I left home, to fetch my homework, shoes bag, or whatever I had to bring to school for the day. Sometimes school gave us a copy of note that inform parents about important school events such as parents' visiting day or an athletic meeting. I always forgot to pass it to my mother. It was not so unusual she knew the events from other parents. She used to always complain about that.
It was when I was in highschool. One day in the morning when we were all seated waiting for the class to start, our teacher walked straight up to me as soon as he entered the class room. He was smirking.
He handed me a white sheet of paper folded in the middle. It looked familiar.
"Your mother left this behind on the school shoes box. A student brought it to me."
I opened it. It was my grade report. I knew that there was a parents-school meeting the day before but didn't know the report was handed to parents. I couldn't speak a word.
"It's good your grade is not bad, toshi. otherwise it would have been even more embarrassing." he continued. Some students laughed loudly to know the paper was the school report.
My grade was not bad actually. But in the report there was a comment about my behavior at school. It said "Generally speaking, he is doing well. But sometimes he forgets important things." The student who brought it to the teacher must have read it.
He said "It is good a child takes after his mother. But I wonder if this is the case."
Everyone broke into laughter. It was one of the most embarrassing moments in my life.
After this incident my mother has never commented on my forgetfulness.
Forgetfulness is an inheritable trait.
