一期一会

When I heard Prelude #4 played in the movie through youtube yesterday, it was not as good as when I had heard in the movie for the first time. I thought his bad performance was responsible, but it was only a tiny part of the reason.
I like music. But I have seldom bought records or CDs. Of course, when I was very young I bought SP or LP records. But when I bought them and listened a couple of times I quickly got bored. Gradually I learned that music was contextual. Good music is good. Yet it has less charm when it is cut off from your situation or your feelings when you hear it. You may love a piece of music but is it not because you happen to hear it when you have a broken heart?
Buying them is an attempt to own music. But unfortunately music can never be owned by you. It is like keeping it in a cage. You can still see them and love them but it loses its vitality, in a way it is dead. Music is the same. It is living and dancing with your life. The moment you own it, the music starts to lose its magic.
Music is something that happens to be there in your life. Music from the radio happens to strike your heartstrings. The music happens to sound beautiful because of the event you happen to be getting thorough; parting with your loved one, commemorating your wedding anniversary at a restaurant or having failed in a big business. The event can be yearned for later in your life because of the music you happened to hear on those occasions. Thus music is fused into your life and never be separated from it. Let less of your intention stand in the way of the encounters.
Anything we can imagine may not be such a big deal. Unexpectedness may be the most important in our lives. Whenever our expectation is betrayed we feel shocked but at the same time we feel fun, beauty or something beyond our small existence. Joke is one of those things. Music should be. It is 一期一会 kind of thing.
You can't buy it just as you can't buy love. You can also say like this. If you pursue her too much she will run away^^
