The mystery surrounding china-made frozen gyouza, or vegetable and meat dumplings, tainted by a fatally poisonous chemical called methamidophos is scandalizing all the Japanese. The detected level of the chemical proved to be far higher than that of residual agricultural chemical. So chances are someone intentionally put it during the wrapping or delivery process. The police even found out a tiny hole in the plastic package through which the poison was apparently injected. Then the question is who did it when for what. We have no idea yet.
Whatever the answer, this case is catastrophically dangerous because it has demonstrated anyone, who has an intention of killing a mass of people for any reason, can do it quite easily. With all the poisonous chemicals available in the market, with all the food mass-produced and mass-delivered, I wonder if we have measures at all to prevent similar cases. The world is becoming convenient for sure only at the cost of security?
