Ego

You would think that I look down on Fukuda-san because of what I wrote yesterday. On the contrary, I respect him. He has done what I cannot do. Being a prime minister must be one of the toughest things. Even if it is out of his ambition or his selfish desire to leave his name in history, playing a role of the premier takes some self-sacrificing efforts. This is ironic. Ultimate pursuit of ego has something in common with discarding ego.
If the worth of one's life is measured by how much of ego is sacrificed, we could say that those who pursued ego with utmost efforts may live the most valuable lives...
If someone is despised for what he cannot do, I may be the one who is most despised. I can't peel apples. I can't run fast. I can't say "東京特許許可局". I can't remember what I ate for dinner last night...
I would prefer to respect people for what they can do. In that respect, all the people around me are amazingly respectable.
Life is short. Too short to do everything. We cannot but do what we can do accepting the fact we cannot do many things.... I want to be able to peel apples though.
