Getting colder

Mornings and evenings are getting colder these days. You can see how much in the picture below. This is the roundest animal I have ever seen since I saw an armadillo in a zoo. She's our pet.
She is getting old and can't hear well; she's almost deaf. She looks drowsy all day and actually sleeps whenever I see her. Sequestered from the world flooded with noise, now she lives in a silent world.[:W300:right]
She used to bark a lot at delivery service men, bill collectors, students of mine, or whoever came nearer than 3ms from the gate. But before we know she stopped it. Yesterday a man who delivered a registered mail said to my mother, "your わんちゃん became quiet these days. I wonder what happened to her." She answered "she just got old and indifferent to earthly things, like me." I am not so sure if both of the elderlies got indifferent to earthly things, though.
Winter is coming. We know it will be replaced by the spring. But nobody knows if it is also true for my dog... and us. She keeps sleeping peacefully now embraced in a bottomless silence.
